Here you can read about challenges I try and events I participate in. When you would want to participate in these too, please come over to instagram and join me!

Target language reading challenge

The #TLreadingchallenge came to my mind when I realised, I don’t use the languages I know enough. What is the point of learning when you don’t use what you know?

So I decided to do a challenge in 2021, and read one book a month in a different language than my native. So anything except Hungarian, plus, because I use English all the time, I excluded English also. I talk about this challenge a lot on instagram, so come over there and check all the infos, tips and tricks about it!

I also update this page regularly with the current state of the challenge, here is what happened so far:

January – I read Esterhazy in German, and learned a lot of vocab

February – I read The little prince (Malý Princ) in czech, and I practiced pronunciation, vocab and grammar

March – I started to read Um die Ecke geküsst from Meg Cabot as an extensive reading (this means, that I dont want to understand every word and sentence, I want to enjoy the story overall)

Polyglot conference

I first participated in the polyglot conference in October 2020. This conference is usually in different location every year, but due to the pandemic, this time they organised it online. This opened the doors for me to participate, because otherwise I do not think I would have been able to go (it was planned to take place in Mexico). The event is all about language learning and teaching, and all the connections regarding languages and life. I am so happy, I could get this wonderful experience! I even gained new friendships and I learned a lot.

The organisers slowly uploading the talks of the conference to YouTube, so you can check them out too! My favourites were Lindie Botes, Judith Meyer, a starter swahili lesson and one talk about caring for our voices. I will definitely listen to them again!

You can find more info about next year’s conference on the polyglot conference website and on their instagram page!
